UMBERTO BIAGINI

(Volterra, 19th-20th century)

Umberto Biagini was an Italian sculptor active between the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A native of Volterra, a Tuscan city renowned for its alabaster craftsmanship, he developed a style influenced by Neoclassicism and the academic trends of the Belle Époque. Working between Italy and France, he created numerous allegorical and decorative works in marble and alabaster, showcasing both his technical mastery and his dedication to idealized forms.

He drew inspiration from the great Franco-Italian masters of the Grand Tour era, the educational journey undertaken by young European aristocrats between the 17th and 19th centuries to refine their artistic, cultural, and intellectual education.
