Born in Paris on 5 March 1863, Henri Godet was a prolific sculptor and medal engraver who made many sculptures in bronze but very few in marble. He was particularly known for his numerous busts of women decorated with flowers. This very specialised artist promoted his works himself and exhibited regularly at the Salons from 1883 until his death. Terracotta sketches by Henri Godet are preserved in the Musée d’Orsay.
