ALFREDO MORELLI

(Firenze, Act. late 19th century)

Florentine artist renowned for his refined Art Deco marble works.

Alfredo Morelli was an Italian sculptor active in Florence, where he received his artistic training at the Istituto d’Arte. A diligent student, he began exhibiting internationally at an early stage.

In 1885, he presented his works in Antwerp and Haarlem, where he received an honorable mention — an early sign of the recognition his talent would garner. In 1898, Morelli took part in the second competition for the design of a funerary monument to Rossini, intended for the church of Santa Croce in Florence — a landmark of the Italian artistic pantheon. His participation reflects his integration into the Florentine artistic circles of the late 19th century and his ambition to contribute to major public commissions.

Today, Alfredo Morelli is known for numerous high-end sculptures often attributed to the Art Deco period.
